# OpenTAP Packages - Invalid version specifier

I’m trying to run OpenTap in Windows for the first time and continue running into issues installing packages both from command line and from OpenTap Repository web interface. I get the error “Invalid version specifier.” Any idea what the problem is?

Could you provide some more info? What are you trying to install? Which OpenTAP version are you using? Can you share the command line command you are using?

I’m using OpenTap 9.31.1 for Windows and trying to install the Demonstration package. I get an error downloading the CSV package:
C:\Program Files\OpenTAP\>tap package install Demonstration

It turned out to be an IT issue. If anyone runs into this in the future try downloading from [packages.opentap.io](http://packages.opentap.io) and remove the ?version information from the link. It could be useful if there was an alternate download method, maybe an “offline installer” with all of the packages available to download.

Hi @gregstamp,
The `?version=XX`part of the URL is important for figuring out which version to download.
Could you elaborate a bit on how this could be an IT issue?
