License for TAP Editor

Lately, on installing the latest version of Developer’s System, it asks to activate the license. Upon activating community license (using opentap account credentials), it is ok for a few days post which the notification comes up again on bringing up the editor. How do we install a permanent license for the same?

Secondly, upon trying to activate community license again, this error is seen:

Hi @shwethakh,

Thanks for asking,

At the moment, the community license needs to be re-activated from time to time. Currently, I believe it’s every 3 days. During those 3 days, you don’t need to be online.

I personally use the community license and don’t find it bothersome, but please give us your perspective on how it could be better or what you think is bad about it.

If you need a permanent license, those are available for purchase at keysight.com.

As for the issue about “Files are in use” it’s a problem t hat we are working on resolving in the upcoming release. (9.32).

Thank you.

  1. Is it ok to request for a trial license for 30 days and then go back to activating community license every 3 days thereafter?
  2. Would you let me know the pricing to activate the permanent license. What is the licensing model like.. Is it pay per PC? Is it transferrable once installed?
  3. What would be an approximate timeline for the 9.32 package to be released? Is there any work around in the interim as it is halting some production processes?
  4. Is it possible for us to install any earlier version of Developer’s System for now which does not have the requirement of activating the license?

Ok let me try to answer the best I can:

  1. Using the any license, including the trial license and then going back to community license is fine.
  2. This depends a bit, I suggest you check out KS8400B Test Automation on PathWave PDF Asset Page | Keysight for the licensing options. Floating licenses can be shared between PCs, but only used by one at a time. There are also license options that can be transferred. For pricing I think you’ll have to get a quote at the link I provided before.
  3. We expect the release to be out mid February. To fix the issue you can remove the Usage Statistics package (delete it from the packages folder), then re-activate community license. Other than that there is no known workaround at the moment.
  4. I don’t think there is a version that does this and has access to the Editor application.
